Editorial Policy
Our Editorial Mission
The Daily Practical exists to make practical, high-quality information accessible to everyone — without jargon, paywalls, or unnecessary complexity. We cover personal finance, careers, real estate, insurance, health, and productivity, with a focus on content that is directly actionable for our readers.
Our editorial standard is simple: every article must answer "can someone act on this today?" If it cannot, we rewrite it until it can. We measure the value of our content not by how long it is or how impressive it sounds, but by how genuinely useful it is to the person reading it.
Facts checked against reliable, authoritative sources
Every article leaves readers with clear next steps
Affiliate links, sponsored content, and sources clearly disclosed
Content reviewed and updated regularly as conditions change
Editorial decisions made free from advertiser or affiliate pressure
Complex topics explained in plain, accessible language
Editorial Independence
The Daily Practical maintains a strict separation between our editorial content and our commercial relationships. This means:
- Advertisers and affiliate partners have zero influence over our editorial content. A company cannot pay to be featured in, or excluded from, any article.
- Commission rates from affiliate programmes do not influence which products or services we recommend. A product with a 10% commission rate is evaluated on exactly the same basis as one with a 1% rate — on its merits.
- We do not accept payment in exchange for positive reviews or guaranteed coverage.
- Sponsored or paid content, when published, is clearly and prominently labelled as such (see Section 08).
- Our editorial team makes all content decisions based on reader value, not revenue potential.
Our Content Creation Process
Every article on The Daily Practical goes through a consistent process to ensure quality:
Topics are chosen based on reader questions, search demand, and genuine gaps in available practical information — not affiliate revenue potential.
We research each topic using authoritative sources including government websites, academic research, industry reports, and established financial or health publications.
Content is written to be accurate, clear, and genuinely useful. We prioritise practical takeaways over comprehensive coverage for its own sake.
Articles are reviewed for factual accuracy, readability, and compliance with our editorial standards before publication.
Content is published with appropriate disclosures (affiliate links, sponsored content) and sourced data clearly referenced.
Articles are periodically reviewed and updated to reflect changes in law, rates, market conditions, or reader feedback.
Sources & Research Standards
We rely on credible, authoritative sources in our research. Our preferred source hierarchy is:
- Primary sources: Government websites (IRS, SSA, FTC, CFPB, RBI, SEBI), official regulatory bodies, legislation and court rulings
- Academic and scientific research: Peer-reviewed journals and recognised research institutions
- Industry data: Reports from established financial, insurance, or industry organisations
- Established media: Reporting from reputable financial and general news publications
- Expert commentary: Statements from licensed professionals in the relevant field
We avoid relying solely on single sources for factual claims. Where data changes frequently (such as interest rates, salary figures, or insurance premiums), we note the date the data was sourced and encourage readers to verify current figures.
Accuracy & Fact-Checking
Accuracy is our highest editorial priority, particularly given that our content covers topics — finance, insurance, health, real estate — where incorrect information can have real consequences for readers.
- Factual claims are checked against at least one authoritative source before publication.
- Statistics and data points are sourced from credible organisations and noted with context (e.g., the date and source of the data).
- We clearly distinguish between established facts, expert opinion, and our own editorial perspective.
- Where topics are genuinely contested or subject to expert disagreement, we represent multiple perspectives rather than presenting one view as definitive.
- We acknowledge the limits of our expertise. On topics requiring professional judgement, we defer to qualified experts and encourage readers to seek professional advice.
Updating & Correcting Content
The world changes. Laws are amended, interest rates shift, products are discontinued, and new research emerges. We are committed to keeping our content current and correcting errors promptly.
Updates
Articles covering time-sensitive topics (such as tax law, mortgage rates, or insurance regulations) are periodically reviewed and updated. Updated articles display a revised "Last Updated" date.
Corrections
If we publish an error — factual, numerical, or otherwise — we correct it as quickly as possible. Significant corrections are noted transparently within the article. We do not silently delete or alter content to obscure previous errors.
How to Report an Error
If you spot an inaccuracy in any of our articles, please contact us at support@thedailypractical.com with the subject line "Correction Request". Include the article URL and a description of the error. We take all correction requests seriously and investigate every report.
Affiliate & Advertiser Relationships
The Daily Practical earns revenue through Google AdSense advertising and affiliate marketing programmes. We are transparent about these relationships:
- Articles containing affiliate links include a disclosure notice.
- This Site carries a site-wide affiliate disclosure (see our Affiliate Disclosure).
- Advertisers do not have access to our editorial content before publication.
- We do not guarantee positive coverage to any advertiser or affiliate partner.
- Products and services with affiliate programmes are evaluated on the same basis as those without. If a product is not good, we say so — regardless of whether we have an affiliate relationship with the seller.
Sponsored Content Policy
On occasion, The Daily Practical may publish sponsored content — articles, guides, or posts that are produced in partnership with a brand or advertiser and for which we receive compensation.
- All sponsored content is clearly and prominently labelled as "Sponsored," "Paid Partnership," or similar at the top of the article.
- Sponsored content must meet the same editorial quality standards as our organic content — factually accurate, clearly written, and genuinely useful to readers.
- Sponsors do not control the final content of sponsored articles beyond providing factual information about their products or services.
- We reserve the right to decline or discontinue any sponsored content arrangement that conflicts with our editorial standards or reader trust.
- Sponsored content is compliant with FTC endorsement guidelines and applicable advertising standards.
For sponsored content enquiries, email support@thedailypractical.com with the subject line "Partnership".
Comments & Community
We welcome thoughtful comments and discussion from our readers. Our comment standards require that all comments:
- Are respectful and constructive — personal attacks, harassment, or abusive language are not permitted
- Are relevant to the article being discussed
- Do not contain spam, self-promotion, or unsolicited advertising
- Do not contain misinformation or deliberately false claims
- Do not violate any applicable law
We reserve the right to remove any comment that violates these standards, without notice and at our sole discretion. Repeat violators may be blocked from commenting. Comments are managed through Blogger's comment system and are also subject to Google's Terms of Service.
Feedback & Corrections
We value reader feedback. If you have a question about how we produce our content, want to report an error, suggest a topic, or raise a concern about any article, we want to hear from you.
